Common Forms of Drywall Damage

Your walls and ceiling can get damaged due to a number of reasons. These include:

Cracks: Cracks could either be surface area cracks or deep cracks. Surface area cracks often occur between two drywall sheets, on the area where the seams of the sheets meet. These cracks aren’t very serious and they can usually be fixed very easily. New compound needs to be filled in the gap, sandpapered and then the area needs to be painted to go with the rest of the wall. Deep cracks are more serious. They usually go through the paper tape of the seam. In this case, the compound will have to be applied multiple times carefully to the crack in order to fill it up.  These layers need to be applied very carefully so that they are thin and do not form lumps.

Large Sections: In some cases, you may have a hole in your wall or an entire chunk of your drywall could have come off because of some carpentry work or an accident. If a large section of your drywall is damaged, you should be careful. There could be electrical wires or plumbing that can get exposed in this case.
