Types of Molding

Wood- This is the most popular material that is used in the manufacture of crown moulding. There are a variety of wood species like pine, mahogany and oak that can add to the beauty of a room. Though wood molding looks very elegant, it tends to get affected by fluctuations in humidity and temperature and it has a tendency to crack, shrink or expand.

Polyurethane- This material has numerous advantages over wood and is preferred by many people. Polyurethane does not get affected by changes in humidity or temperature and is durable in areas where there is a large amount of climatic variation. It is strain resistant and high-density, does not get affected by termites and is scratch-proof.
Plaster- moulding of plaster is custom made and has to be installed by a home improvement professional. It is available in sculpted profiles and can be customized to match your décor.
Moulding is available in a variety of sizes and widths. You can buy quarter round moulding or one that is 3/4th – 1” in width. Some moulding can also be as wide as 5 inches.
